
| IOWA ZOOS The Blank Park Zoo has been a part of the Des Moines metro community since 1963. The Zoo is in a convenient south Des Moines location, about 1 mile North of the Hwy 65 bypass and about 2 miles east of the Des Moines International Airport. The Blank Park Zoo manages 49 acres of land. Of that, 22 acres have been developed into animal exhibits or facilities. Currently there are 104 different animal species and 1,484 animal specimens cared for at the Blank Park Zoo. The Fejervary Childrens Zoo is located in scenic Fejervary Park, adjacent to the Davenport Museum of Art and the Putnam Museum of Natural History on West 12th St. The facility is owned and operated by the City of Davenport and in a cooperative partnership with the Niabi Zoo, located in Coal Valley, Illinois. The children's Zoo continues a tradition established in 1927. The new North American Animal theme now other species. The Small Animal Zoo Zone, a hands-on experience for your children, will also be extremely popular as pygmy goats, jersey calves, pigs, deer, and other small animals are present for handling and feeding.
