VIRGINIA ZOOS

Have you heard? The Virginia Zoo currently displays nearly 400 animals, ranging
from African elephants to Siberian tigers.Africa is the most exciting expansion
in the Virginia Zoo's history and added nine new species to the Zoo, including
zebra, lion, giraffe, red river hog and meerkat.

The Luray Zoo, formerly the Luray Reptile Center, is nestled in the beautiful
Shenandoah Valley. The Zoo is well known for it's personable atmosphere and
loads of animal fun! It also boasts one of the best snake collections on the
East Coast, has an interactive petting zoo, live educational animal shows, and
mammals and exotic birds from around the world.

The Virginia Safari Park opened in the spring of 2000 because we felt there
was a need and desire for people to be able to see wild animals in a much more
natural environment than had previously been available. At VSP you'll be able
to see animals run and frolic with abandon ... or block your path ... or lay
flat-out in the sun ... the choice will be theirs; they are free to roam—no
pacing back and forth in front of a barred exhibit!

Maymont Wildlife Exhibits are scattered throughout the 40-acre valley between
the historical estate, Children's Farm and Nature Center. All exhibits feature
native Virginia wildlife in their natural habitats, including black bears,
bison, white-tailed and sika deer, elk, gray and red fox, bobcats, birds of
prey and an aviary displaying an impressive array of birds, many
representing Virginia's wetlands.
